Use only low pressure water if you really have to clean the bay. Do not direct any stream of water on critical areas like ECU etc which is next to the battery. Also no direct water jets on the radiator as it can bend the delicate fins.
Alternatively you can get the engine bay cleaned using some detailers who offer such services.

Type Cleaner spray is quite effective.
