Engine squeaky noise

Hey fellow jimny owners,

Been facing an intermittent noise from the engine. Some points of observation on the noise-

  1. When engine is warm, and engine is turned off there is a squeaky noise
  2. After the engine is warmed and is idling, there is intermittent screaching noise
  3. While off roading with windows rolled down, with the jerks the same squeaky noise can be replicated
  4. While sudden acceleration or shifting in reverse quickly there is a clunky noise

Other than this there is no problem while driving.

This noise started slcoming around 10k kms, and now the vehicle has clocked 20k kms.

Got this issue checked at service center, they couldn’t find any issue, and mentioned if the noise become more frequent it will be easier to diagnose (even though it will possibly lead to a mahor issue at that point :joy:)

Anyone faced this kind of noise or sound from ther vehicles?

Your fan belt is either loose or become too hard with use. Get it tightened up and the noise should stop.

Also get your AC pulley checked. Sometimes the bearing inside it dries up and makes noise.

Does the sound occur when you press the accelerator on a cold start up. If it does then definiltely its the fan belt. How much have you driven till now…

I have driven it around 20k kms, its actually goes away when i rev it little bit beyond idle rpm, only makes noise while idleing.

As you suggested, could be something to do whith the ac pulley bearing.

Thanks for the advice:+1:t3::+1:t3:

I investigated the noise issue further, it is coming from the eshaust mainfold to the exhaust pipe coupling. The coupling has 2 springs along with bolts to absorb vibrations from engine, with some rusting on the pipe, springs and bolts it makes squeaking noise.

It seems like nothing to worry about.
