Continuing the discussion from CurbOver Innovations - Engine Start/Stop Disable, GPS Tracker, Diff Breather Kit:
To my understanding the ESS coupler disables the arming of vehicle when locked by remote or by door button. This happens as the central locking system reads the engine hood as unlocked or open. So if any door or engine hood is left open then the vehicle cannot be armed.
Request to kindly clarify.

You are correct. That’s exactly what it does. However the car can be locked and unlocked by remote as usual and it will not start unless the key is with you inside the car.
The arming and disarming is for the alarm system and that is what gets disabled with the ESS coupler.
