First mini offroad test of 5 Door Jimny

Frankly I’ll call myself a Jimny stan but after looking at this test I hope maruti hasn’t screwed up the 4x4 capabilities with the 5 door. The tyres are obviously the wrong ones but majority of customers might not upgrade immediately and specially ones in the Hills will compare this and say even an alto can do better. Anyways from buying sight unseen I’m also now gonna wait and see how it performs in a real test once they launch.

This so called road test is highly misleading. The person is driving the car in 2H and expecting it to go over a hump that has lifted the rear tyre.

Without engaging 4H or 4L or without a rear diff lock getting engaged in 2H the situation will be similar for any 4x4 vehicle.

The moment he engages 4H the vehicle glides over the hump and there is no scraping at any point.

Kindly dont compare this with the Mechanically Locking Diff of Mahindra where the rear differential gets locked with a big jerk and pushes the car forward dangerously. Also the Mechanically locking diff is offered even with 2WD vehicles since they don’t have 4WD capability.

Jimny’s diff will lock using brake limited differential technology when 4H or 4L is engaged and is a vastly superior and smoother technique to get out of such situations.

He had a thar at the back but didn’t bother to show it properly. I mean, if you’re making something, at least make it right.

Probably the Thar would have fared even worse in 2H.
