Hi everyone,
This is Rahul waiting for Jimny from last 4 years.
Here goes my intitial impression of Jimny, please note that it’s not an Drive Impression.
First thing you will notice is the ground clearance, don’t go by number specification on paper, it’s really feels much more than that. I also noticed tyre are of sufficient size, one should not hurry for upgrade.
Now Quick Pros and Cons
+
Reasons for buying Jimny
- loved the look of the vehicle.
- proper off road vehicle with fuss free ownership expected.
- EASE OF DRIVING.
Reasons for not investing in this highly capable vehicle
- rear seats not for ment even for kids.
- not a family car.
- you can buy fully loaded XL6 with paddle shifters at this price.
My wife liked the vehicle as it is narrow and she felt it will be much easier to drive than our current car Brezza, she felt the short distance between driver and windshield due to narrower dashboard is a plus point and adds to ease of driving. Also due to the down hump at driver and co driver windows it’s visibility is a boon.
One more practical point, while driving narrow Himalayan/mountain roads, sometimes we have to look for road at corners, in Jimny we get a clear view of the tyre and road after opening the door or by peeping outside of the window
Now comes the negatives
Flat front seat is a Joke
Overall plastic quality is not good, sensors broken, door flexes at glass area.
It’s Quite impossible to take kids along on long trip, strictly for 2 people on long drives, My 10 year old boy was felt uncomfortable at the rear seat, so I can say he will not join me on my himalayan trips.
