That’s provided we get the armrest that’s not dependant on the cup holders - like I mentioned elsewhere, we need to figure out which car that same seat is used in and pick up the part for armrest. Else hopefully the armrest part of existing MS car is a direct fit as there’s probably the same frame used in many other MS cars with different cushioning.
The first modification for me will be tyres.
Today I went to nearby Yokohama outlet to inquire about the AT tyres. The dealer was kind enough but left me in dilemma. According to him there are two series in yokohama at tyres.
1 Made in India.
This one cost around 7200.
2 Made in Thailand
This one cost around 7800. And has white lettering. According to the dealer this one has wider side wall.
Both the tyres have different tread.
Can anyone clarify about this and which tyre we should go for.
Aren’t tyre imports banned for locally produced sizes? Can you check if those are even new stock.
Yokohama India has the LT (Light Truck) tyre in the 215/75 R15. This is a tough tyre and has more load carrying capacity than the other model.
Both are good tyres. For really tough conditions and full load I would prefer the LT tyre as it is more durable and longer lasting. It is also cheaper to buy.
No idea about imports. I don’t have any plans to go as the dealer is not that close to place.
Thailand tyre also mentions LT. It’s the white lettering which is attracting me to go for. Else made in India seems vfm.
Another major difference in india vs Thailand is the snow flake rating on the latter. Helpful only if you plan to use them in northern parts of india with snow/ice and very low temperate. But the softer rubber compound wears off more quickly specially in hot weather areas
My top 3 mods:
- A/T tyres
- Front grille (replace stock grille with “S U Z U K I” lettering one)
- Front and rear diff guards
My top 3 accessories:
- Dashcam (probably re-use my 70mai dual channel; or may get a latest Viofo 4k dual channel)
- Centre Armrest with storage and cup holders.
- Spare wheel cover (full cover with ‘S’ logo)
Bonus accessories:
- Floor mats
- Mud flaps
Went to another Yokohama store today. The dealer only had white lettering tyres in stock. And he was pushing me to go for these ones as it has more wider treads. Manufacturing date was may 2022. And refused to exchange the stock tyres. Made in India tyres feels more vfm at this point with decent exchange value.
You get white paint on Amazon etc - after buying I’ll do that white paint and call it a day.

Just wondering if anyone would know the cost of PPF coating the Jimny. And would it be a good idea.
Thanks, I was thinking the same. With the pricing out, I’d be very picky in any sort of mods and additional spends on Jimny. Will take it slow.
Not sure if it’ll work for India spec 5 door Jimny because as per a comment on the same page, this didn’t work for JB74
Now that the Ceramic Coating is done, it is time for the accessories to get installed:
Dual Dashcam
Center armrest
TPMS
Inclinometer
Phone holder
Cup holder/phone holder
Throttle controller
Exterior body/door panels
I will be going with the following accessories:
-
215/75/R15 ContiCrossContact AT
-
Jimnystyle foldable center armrest
- Power + TC
- Jimnystyle center storage for AT
Planning some DIY also. Like, putting a plastidip peelable spray coat on the grill. Don’t like the chrome bits in the stock grill at all.
A DIY Molle seat back organizer. Olive Planet sells a lot of Molle pouches. If I can make a Molle panel using nylon bag webbings, I can attach the pouches to the panel. Something on the lines of this image:
Lot of plans, but still waiting for the car to arrive
Lovely kit of accessories. Where did you get the TC from. Any local contacts here for the TC in India. Many folks are interested in getting it. Wish you millions of miles with your Jimny.
