Hello everyone.
As I mentioned, I upgraded my Jimny stock Tyres to Yokohama Geolander 215/75R 15. The dealer filled the tyres with nitrogen and tyre Pressure is 35 psi. I observed that I keep tyre pressure in ISuzu MUX at 30 psi and I am a long distance traveller. He says because of long pipe around 3 psi remains in pipe so effectively there is 32 psi in tyres. To me it is not logical. I stay at Manali, Himachal where these days roads are practically off roading type. How much should be tyre pressure?
Hey. Welcome to the forum. Keep it at 30. Jimny is a very light vehicle.
Stock tyre of 195/80 R15 recommended air pressure is 26 PSI as per MSIL.
Upgraded Tyres should either have the same or lower pressure, however on actual testing with 225/70 R15 Apollo Apterra AT2 Tyres I found the best balance of fuel economy and ride quality at 30 PSI.
Folks using 215/75 R15 Yokohama Geolandar AT G015 or Continental Cross Contact AT have reported that the car behaves good at either 29 or 30 PSI as well.
Thanks for this post.
I am a new user here and was actually searching for tyre pressure details for Apollo Apterra AT2 225/70/R15.
There are no details available online as far as I’ve researched and the Apollo Tyres website doesn’t shed much light.
I think you’re absolutely bang-on with the 30psi limit. I was sceptical if it was the right pressure or not, but could feel the tyres were performing just right at this tyre pressure.
Quick question - Do you think an increase is needed if there’s more load to carry?
Thanks!
Welcome to CurbOver. I have never increased the pressure beyond 30 even with full load. It has been an year now and I have done three long expeditions with full load at 30 PSI without any issues.
On highways I get around 14 kmpl with full load at 30 PSi and speed between 80 and 90 kmph.
I dont drive beyond that speed.
