Introductions Here

Hello Everyone,

I am Varun from Roorkee, Uttarakhand. I worked in IT sector for a decade in Bangalore before moving back to my home ground. The primary reason to move back was to get back to Mountains and work here.

I feel allive and spirited riding on the roads leading to far off places in Uttarakhand. I have RE Himalayan on which I have covered much distant and beautiful places in Uttarakhand and there is alot that’s still out there to explore.

I have i20 presently which is about to complete 13 years. It still runs smooth and supports me flawlessly. However, I now need a change in expereince hence the Jimny is what I am strongly considering to buy. I did take the TD of AT variant, wasn’t pleased with the knowledge of salesperson and the condition in which the car was kept.

I plan to visit another dealer and take the TD mostly in Dehradun.
Would be happy to connect with anyone from Roorkee/Dehradun area and take their first feedback.

Hi Tarun,

Wondering if you ended up buying Jimny?

Hi i am Suryadev , doctor by profession i am from kochi kerala … i have been using the jimny for almost one year (ALPHA AT )… before that i owned a gypsy … actually Jimmy was my upgrade from a hard leaf suspension and full of rattles and lots of water leaks … to a family offroader with zero rattles . For me jimny is always a modern gypsy … i am very much satisfied with the vehicle … recently I upgraded it with iron man suspension (stiffer one )for a smoother highway ride and also a 2 inch lift … which helped me with a 235 width tyres … as the tyres made more load to the vehicle … i did a stage one tune to the vehicle which increased a little bit of tourque and also some bhp … actually now its a smother ride … upshifts are faster . Also i have changed the bmc replacement filter for a better air flow . These are the mods i have done to the vehicle … thankyou for adding me to such a wonderful community of jimny :v: cherrs :v:

Hello, Soumil here. I own a Jimny Alpha MT, purchased on December 2023. Right after delivery I changed my tyres to BFGoodrich 215/75/15 and since then i have driven my car almost 12,000kms which includes lots of mud bashing in and around bhopal. I purchased this vehicle to specifically go to places only a 4x4 can go. terrains such as snow, sand, mud ,rocks and river crossing. i also have a small group of fellow 4x4 enthusiasts in my circle.(jimny, thar, fortuner, gypsy, hilux) and we meet up once in a while.
the mods which i wish to have in near future are as follows-
underbody protection(light weight)
recovery shackles
working snorkel
performance air filter such as by bmc
tanabe front strut brace for stability
wind booster
auxillary lights before i go for snow escapde
some recovery tools
stock bumper winch
fujitsbu bolt on exhaust
rock sliders and lift kit

all the above mentioned mods i shall be doing slowly throughout my journey. hope to connect with fellow jimny owners with this group and even join for a trip as planned by admins.
Thank You.
I live in 4 cities Mumbai,Bhopal,Ujjain and Indore(its close to ujjain).

Welcome Rajiv. Great to have you here among friends.

Hi, Vanakkam everyone! We are Saravana Siddharth and Gowthami from Chennai, a family of four with our two cats, Zorba and Madamme.

We booked a Pearl Arctic White Jimny Alpha MT on September 30th, and we’re taking delivery on November 8th. We’re literally counting the days—feels like a kid waiting for their favorite toy to arrive! This is our first car, and we wanted it to be the Jimny.

We have been following ‘CurbOver’ on Instagram for a few days now. After watching your Spiti expedition, we decided to join this fantastic, well-organized, and knowledgeable community.

I am a journalist and documentary filmmaker, while my wife is a travel influencer with around 130K followers on Instagram.

So far, we haven’t decided on any modifications; we want to drive it stock for a while. In the future, we plan to install a roof carrier to carry equipment for our shoot trips.

I’m currently oscillating on whether to install a throttle controller. I’ll decide once I read more about it in this forum.

We can’t wait to share and learn many things from this community!

Hello to all the people of the Simply Jimny Community. I’m Shirish, a Creative Head in the field of advertising and marketing based out of Chennai.

I have booked myself a Jimny Alpha AT and expecting it to be delivered to me by next week.

As of Mods I have ordered the honeycomb front grill & a windbooster.

I’m thinking about changing the tyres to 215 R15.

While looking up on YouTube about the Jimny I had come across the video of the Spiti 2024 Expedition featuring 22 Jimny’s and I could see the bonding between the members and the passion for driving and the love for adventure.

That’s when I decided that if and when I get a Jimny I would be love to be a part of this group.

Hello Everyone,

This is Sudhi here from Bangalore. I own a Alpha AT Kinetic Yellow Dual Tone, Nov 2024 make Jimny. Honestly, the Jimny in it’s 5 door version never appealed to me until I took a test drive! That really sealed the deal for me and here I’m a proud owner with a huge grin :slightly_smiling_face:

Following are the mods done so far:

  • Blaupunkt Front and Rear Dashcam
  • Armrest, Gear Box storage console, Front Door Handle storage and Anti-slip Jimny logo dash mat from Harman Impex
  • Storage Pouch for passenger-side front grab handle from Olive Planet
  • Rear seat belt clips, storage net between front seats and headrest grab handles with hook from Amazon
  • Side steps from a vendor in Bangalore

I would like to do the following mods, but have some questions:

  • evcX throttle controller: does this installation void any warranty? If not, where in Bangalore can I get this done?
  • upgrade the tyres to 215: is it practical to do so now with hardly 500 kms on the ODO or should I let the stock tyres run its life and then upgrade? Any suggestions are welcome.

I’m just a beginner or I’d rather admit that I’ve never done off-roading. I’m absolutely eager to learn the art of off-roading from all you knowledgeable and been-there-done-that folks.

So far, no long trips done yet, it has only been city runs and office commute! Looking forward to learn from this forum and catching up with your folks in Bangalore for a drive.

Cheers,
Sudhi

As you specifically mentioned not having highway experience and just 500 km on the odometer, and being unsure about switching to 215 tyres, here’s something I’d like to share:

  • I own the same Alpha AT variant (July 2024 make) and switched from a 110PS 4WD Duster (now sold, with the Jimny being my only primary car).
  • I initially wanted to switch to 215 tyres on day one but couldn’t due to time constraints.
  • A month after delivery, I drove the Jimny from Nagpur (my hometown) to Bengaluru (my workplace)—approximately 1,000 km.
  • On the highway, it felt very sluggish and exhibited a dead-pedal-like response, perhaps because I was transitioning from a turbocharged Duster.
  • After that experience, I decided to stick to the stock tyres for now to keep the vehicle as light as possible. I might consider upgrading in the future.
  • Currently, my driving is limited to city use, so switching to 215 tyres doesn’t make sense for me right now.
  • My plan is to connect with some off-roading enthusiasts here in Bengaluru and gather on-ground shared experiences, tradeoffs, and workarounds (like throttle controllers, ECU remaps, etc.). Based on those inputs, I may consider upgrading to 215 tyres, but not immediately.
  • If this isn’t your primary vehicle, you should definitely go for any upgrades you desire. The Jimny is capable of handling anything.

Initially, I wanted to make several modifications and upgrades from day one. However, I’ve realized it’s better to allow time to guide these decisions and make upgrades when the time feels right.
